Define the process result, batch and transfer boundary before equipment selection

Direct answer: Provide the product formulation and permitted variation, batch size, starting and final temperature, viscosity, solids or particles, required mixing result, heating and cooling duty, hold or treatment sequence, product-contact and cleaning requirements, discharge and the downstream filler interface. Final thermal-process suitability requires the responsible process authority; machinery selection alone cannot validate a product treatment.

How should a mixing result be described?

State the measurable or observable outcome required—such as incorporation, suspension, dissolution or consistency—and the product condition at sampling. Avoid prescribing an agitator type before the vessel geometry, viscosity range and process sequence are understood.

How should pasteurising requirements be handled?

Define the product, package or batch process, temperature measurement points, heating/cooling sequence, hold criteria, records and acceptance method through the responsible food or process authority. The supplier can then scope equipment and controls against that approved process requirement.

Why is the transfer to filling important?

Pipework, pumps, head pressure, recirculation and delay can change temperature, aeration, particle distribution and viscosity at the filler. Include the complete transfer route in trials and line calculations.
